Nancy Pearl to present “Book Buzz” at PLA 2008

CHICAGO –Literary taste-maker and librarian action figure model Nancy Pearl will present “Book Buzz” at PLA 2008, the 12th National Conference of the Public Library Association (PLA), Wednesday, March 26, 2008, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Nancy will be joined by representatives from top publishers, including Virginia Stanley from HarperCollins, Talia Ross from Holtzbrinck, Nora Rawlinson from Hachette and Marcia Purcell from Random House; all of who will discuss some of the best upcoming books. The event is open to all conference attendees and requires no advance registration.

Nancy Pearl will also deliver the keynote address to the Young Adult Luncheon, to be held Friday, March 28, 2008, noon to 1:45 p.m. To register for the Young Adult Luncheon, visit

Nancy Pearl speaks about the pleasures of reading to library and community groups across the country and recommends books regularly on NPR's Morning Edition, as well as local public radio stations in Milwaukee, Seattle and Tulsa, Okla,. She's the author of “Book Crush: For Kids and Teens: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Interest,” “Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason” and “More Book Lust: 1,000 New Reading Recommendations for Every Mood, Moment, and Reason,” all published by Sasquatch Books. In 2004 she was awarded the Women's National Book Association Award, given to "a living American woman who has done meritorious work in the world of books beyond the duties or responsibilities of her profession or occupation."
