LAMA Contest will offer prize for the best of "50 Ways to LEAD Your LAMA"

Bede Mitchell, president of the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA), announced today a contest to promote awareness of his presidential theme, "50 Ways to LEAD Your LAMA." LAMA will award a $500 cash prize to the LAMA member who proposes the best strategic initiative selected for inclusion in LAMA's FY09 action plans. Entries will be judged by the LAMA Executive Committee. While LAMA expects to adopt many good ideas suggested by members, the winning proposal will be selected for its feasibility and likelihood of significantly advancing LAMA's strategic vision and goals.

Submissions are due by April 1. The award will be announced at the LAMA President's Program in Anaheim, Calif. as part of the ALA Annual Conference. The winner need not be present at the Annual Conference to win. Members of the LAMA Executive Committee, as well as those who work at the same institutions, are not eligible to enter.

Contest details and proposal forms are available on the LAMA web site at
