2007 Diversity and Outreach Fair participants announced

CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) Office for Literacy and Outreach Services (OLOS) Advisory Committee congratulates the librarians and library supporters selected to participate in the 2007 Diversity and Outreach Fair. This year’s participants represent academic, public and special libraries, as well as library associations, agencies and service providers, from across the country.

This annual event routinely celebrates extraordinary examples of diversity and equity of access in America’s libraries, with multiple ideas for local libraries in search of “diversity- and outreach-in-action” programs and services. This year the Fair will highlight bookmobile and other innovative outreach services to underserved communities. For the sixth consecutive year, sponsor DEMCO, Inc. will award prizes for presentation creativity, visual appeal and impact on local community, and provide refreshments for Fair attendees.

Participants will share their diversity and outreach resources and initiatives in face-to-face presentations with conferees, utilizing a poster session/table talk format. Abstracts of each presentation and presenter contact information will be available after the conference on the OLOS web site at http://www.ala.org/olos.

The Diversity & Outreach Fair will take place on Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 3 - 5 pm in the Washington Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall Special Events Area.
