Mustang Library Director named chair of national committee

MUSTANG—Mustang Library Director Desiree Webber has been named chair of the Financial Advancement Committee for the American Library Association’s (ALA) Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) division. Webber oversees a committee of 12 members and is responsible for raising monies for LAMA’s educational programs and overseeing the growth of its endowment fund.

Andrea Lapsley, president of LAMA, appointed Webber as the interim chair in October 2006 and as chair for the 2007/2008 term.

“I am thrilled to have Desiree leading this committee,” said Lapsley. “It is critical to LAMA’s ability to deliver services and quality programs to the membership. Her expertise, professionalism and leadership is just what we need. This year LAMA is celebrating its 50th anniversary, and her experience and skills will set us on a strong financial course for the future.”

The American Library Association (ALA) was established in 1876 and is the oldest and largest library association in the world with 64,000 members.

The mission of the Library Administration and Management Association (www.ala.org/lama) is to encourage and nurture current and future library leaders, and to develop and promote outstanding leadership and management practices. LAMA is a division of the American Library Association and has a membership of more than 5,000.
