ASCLA offers preconference on staff development and management at ALA Annual Conference in DC
CHICAGO—The Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is offering a preconference on staff development and performance management on Friday, June 22, 2007, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., during the ALA Annual Conference in Washington, DC.
The definition of a library as a learning organization is being rewritten by technology, the changing needs of patrons and types of programs and services provided. How can a library assure its success today and in the future through the development and performance management of its staff? Attendees will learn about organizational strategy, performance management, and how to create and sustain a plan for staff functionality development during this full-day preconference. They will receive a tool kit to assist them in building an effective staffing model for their organization that will assess staff competencies, develop staffing strengths, and recruit for needed and anticipated skills.
For more information on the preconference, visit http://www.ala.org/ala/ascla/asclaevents/asclaannual/preconferencesab/precon.htm
