YALSA offers Passport to Teen Read Week™ Contest at ALA Annual

CHICAGO - Visitors to the Exhibits at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Washington, D.C. can win an iPod Shuffle or one of four messenger bags filled with goodies from the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA), the fastest-growing division of the American Library Association (ALA). The first 1,000 to show their completed Teen Read Week™ (TRW) passport at the YALSA Booth in the ALA Pavilion will be entered into the contest.

The grand prize will be an iPod Shuffle, while four runners-up will each receive a blue messenger bag embroidered with the YALSA logo and filled with various goodies from the YALSA office.

Conference attendees should stop by the YALSA Booth (Booth #2525) starting Saturday, June 23, at 9 a.m. to pick up the TRW Passport (passports will also be distributed at YALSA programs during Annual). They can then visit TRW Corporate Sponsor Mirrorstone Books, an imprint of Wizards of the Coast, and all of the Promotional Partners listed in the passport, collect an “I Support Teen Reading Sticker” from each booth and place it on the “stamps” page in the passport. Completed passports are due to the YALSA Booth by Monday, June 25, at 5 p.m. The grand prize drawing will be held Tuesday morning, with winners’ names posted in the YALSA Booth. Winners do not need to be present to win.

The passports also include tips for planning a successful TRW celebration, plus details about YALSA’s upcoming WrestleMania Reading Challenge. TRW’s 2007 theme is LOL @ your library®, aimed at encouraging teens to read something light or humorous, just for the fun of it. More information, and registration, is available at the TRW Web site at www.ala.org/teenread.

For 50 years, YALSA has been the world leader in selecting books, videos, and audio books for teens.
