Truitt named editor of ITAL

CHICAGO - The Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Truitt as editor of the Information Technology and Libraries (ITAL) journal.

Marc Truitt is associate director of Information Technology Resources and Services at the University of Alberta Libraries. He has been a member of LITA since 2000. He has served on the ITAL Editorial Board throughout his tenure first as a member and then as the managing editor.

“I look forward to contributing to the future of ITAL,” Marc said. “I believe in recent years ITAL has enjoyed a renaissance as the premiere venue for publication of quality library IT research and practice.”

ITAL is a double blind peer reviewed journal published quarterly by LITA, a division of the American Library Association. It is a perquisite of membership in LITA. Non-members may subscribe.

ITAL publishes material related to all aspects of libraries and information technology, including digital libraries, metadata, authorization and authentication, electronic journals and electronic publishing, telecommunications, distributed systems and networks, computer security and intellectual property rights, technical standards, geographic information systems, desktop applications, online catalogs and bibliographic systems, optical information systems, software engineering, universal access to technology, futuristic forecasting, library consortia, vendor relations, and technology and the arts.

“The Board recognizes Marc Truitt’s extensive editorial experience with ITAL and his commitment to maintaining a high quality publication program for LITA,” said Bonnie Postlethwaite, LITA President.

LITA, with over 4,000 members, has been serving the needs of the library and information technology community since 1966. Its mission is to educate, serve, and reach out to that community through its programs, publications and other activities.
