Follett Software and Follett Library Resources to sponsor AASL Closing Night Gala in Reno
CHICAGO – Follett Software Company and Follett Library Resources have teamed up to sponsor the Closing Night Gala at the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) 13th National Conference and Exhibition in Reno, Nev., October 25-28, 2007. Full conference registrants will be invited to enjoy the event at the National Automobile Museum on Saturday evening, October 27, 6:30 – 9:30 pm.
“The Follett companies have been ardent supporters of school libraries for many years and AASL is fortunate to have their generous sponsorship for this special National Conference event,” said Cyndi Phillip, AASL president.
The National Automobile Museum in Reno houses one of the world’s most stunning and extensive collections of vintage automobiles. Its permanent collection includes more than 200 automobiles in period-themed street settings, including air mobiles, horseless carriages, and kickstand motorcycles, as well as displays of clothing worn by motorists of the early 20th century and beyond. Attendees of the AASL Gala will have the opportunity to network with colleagues and relax after a full three days of conference programming, while strolling along historical automobile gems, such as Elvis Presley’s 1973 Cadillac Eldorado, James Dean’s 1949 Mercury, and Lana Turner’s 1941 Chrysler.
“It’s an exciting and challenging time to be a school librarian,” said Chuck Follett, vice president of Follett Corporation. “Like AASL, we at Follett have been actively involved in expanding the role of school libraries and librarians, and defending the importance of the library in the school’s teaching mission. So we’re very pleased to be able to sponsor this important event.”
In addition to the Closing Night Gala at the National Automobile Museum, the AASL National Conference will feature eight pre-conferences, more than 100 concurrent sessions, over 200 exhibiting companies, school and educational tours and special appearances by award-winning authors.
