RUSA's online course teaches
basics of business reference and research

CHICAGO-Learn the basics of business reference and research during the Business Reference 101, a four-week, Internet-based online course offered by the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), Jan. 28 - Feb. 22.




The course is designed to teach the basics of business reference and the process of business research to library staff, library school students, international information professionals and researchers.
It is comprised of four modules (introduction, company and industry, international and marketing/demographics/statistics and investing/stock market).
Students will have access to proprietary business reference databases such as Standard & Poor's NetAdvantage, Thomson/Gale's Business & Company Resource Center, Ebsco's Business Source Complete and Morningstar throughout the course.



The course is taught by Celia Ross, library instructional design coordinator at Columbia College in Chicago. Ross has a background in business reference, with experience from a venture capital firm, a large public library, a global consulting firm and academic libraries.




The registration fees are $190 for non-ALA members, $160 for ALA members, $130 for RUSA members, and $100 for ALA retired or student members.
