2007 Tom and Roberta Drewes Scholarship recipient named

CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce Christopher David Case as the recipient of the 2007 Tom and Roberta Drewes Scholarship.

The $3,000 scholarship is awarded to individuals currently working as library support staff and is to be used towards studies for a master's degree in library and information science.

Case's interest in librarianship was sparked by the advent changes proffered by new and constantly changing technologies and media. His job at Johns Hopkins University as a Cataloger (I) afforded him the opportunity to work with historical artifacts. It was during this time that Case found delight in his ability to preserve and record not only the historical artifact, but also the 'lived experience' of those who handled the artifacts.

"By discovering ways of preserving our lived histories, we will be able to facilitate democratic access to the art and artifacts that we have formed, that have formed us, and that will inform incoming generations," said Case.

Case's goal is to concentrate on the ways in which the mark time is preserved.

Case will attend University of Maryland at College Park.
