Anthony B. Lin receives BRASS Thomson Financial Student Travel Award

CHICAGO—Anthony B. Lin, a masters of library information science candidate at the School of Information, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, is the recipient of the 2007 Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) Thomson Financial Student Travel Award.

BRASS, a section of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), presents the award to a candidate who has demonstrated an interest in pursuing a career as a business reference librarian and has the potential to be a leader in the profession.

The cash award of $1,000, donated by Thomson Financial, a division of the Thomson Corporation, will enable a student enrolled in an ALA-accredited master's program to attend an
ALA Annual Conference.

“Mr. Lin demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm for pursuing a career in business reference service,” said David Flynn, the award committee chair.
“He has already begun to contribute to the profession by serving as an intern on a BRASS planning committee and is actively engaged in co-authorship of a submission for publication in our professional literature. The committee welcomes Anthony Lin to BRASS and looks forward to years of fruitful interaction, starting with our meetings at the ALA Annual Conference.”

The award will be presented at RUSA Awards Ceremony on June 25, 2007, from 4 to 6 p.m., during the ALA Annual Conference in Washington.
