CHICAGO-The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) hosted best-selling author Gail Godwin at its President's Program, "What You'll Read Next: The Buzz of Books," on June 26, 2006, during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in New Orleans.

Godwin spoke about the experience she has gained as a writer and how readers and critics had influenced her.
Godwin is a prolific author who has written 11 novels including "Queen of the Underworld: A Novel" and "The Making of a Writer: Journals, 1961-1963," poetry, short stories, libretti and other works. Her insightful, entertaining presentation provides perspectives on writing, the relationship between an author and her literary characters, the book business, building momentum and promoting a novel, and musings on her literary career.
