LAMA to offer course on buildings management tools at Midwinter
CHICAGO - Any library staff member who is facing or considering a library renovation, remodeling or entirely new library facility is invited to register for "The Complex Edifice:
Analyzing Your Dream Library!"
Sponsored by the Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA), this two-day institute will be held January 18 and 19, 2007, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Midwinter in Seattle.
This institute fulfills a core requirement for the Certified Public Library Administrator Program (CPLA) and is open to all interested librarians and facilities planners.
Instructor William Sannwald, noted for his expertise and warm personal style, will lead participants through a detailed facilities analysis that can be applied to library building projects of any scope.
Participants will: determine the current and future functionality of a library facility; establish capital investment needs; and develop operating and capital budgets.
Sannwald is the retired city librarian of the San Diego Public Library and is currently a full-time management and marketing professor in the business school at San Diego State University.
Registration fees are $595 for LAMA members and $650 for all others. Registration is available online through December 8 at

The mission of the Library Administration and Management Association (
