Deadline for Advocacy Institute

advance registration approaching

CHICAGO – The December 8, 2006 deadline for advance registration for the Advocacy Institute at the 2007 ALA Midwinter Meeting is approaching. By using the ALA advance registration form at www.ala.org/midwinter, advocates can reserve their seat and lunch for $25 – a 50 percent savings from on-site registration.

This three-part program consists of message development and coalition-building techniques; a lunchtime panel discussion on nurturing advocates through school, young adult and academic levels; and afternoon breakout sessions on topics including increasing library funding, maintaining budgets, and crisis communications. Appropriate for novices and those wishing to brush up their skills, the Advocacy Institute provides a valuable opportunity to network and share ideas with library advocates from across the nation.

The Advocacy Institute is open to ALA members and non-members, including those who are not registered for the ALA 2007 Midwinter Meeting. Advance registration for ALA members and non-members is $25 and includes lunch. Onsite registration is $50.

The Advocacy Institute is co-sponsored by YALSA and coordinated by the Advocacy Institute Task Force of the ALA Public Awareness Committee. For more information, visit www.ala.org/advocacyinstitute.

The Advocacy Institute is made possible by a grant from the Ford Foundation. For more information, visit www.fordfound.org.
