Diane Leja receives ALA RUSA STARS Mentoring Award
CHICAGO - Diane E. Leja is the recipient of the ALA RUSA STARS Mentoring Award, a one-time award offered by the Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section (STARS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA). Leja is access services manager, Circulation and Interlibrary Loan, I.D. Weeks Library, University of South Dakota, Vermillion.
The cash award of $1,000 donated by Atlas Systems, Inc. will provide a library practitioner new to the field of interlibrary loan, resource sharing or electronic reserves an opportunity to attend the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans with a mentor assigned by the STARS Education Committee.
"Diane Leja was selected as the recipient of the ALA RUSA STARS Mentoring Award based on her statement of petition and her interest and need in this unique mentoring opportunity," said Cyril Oberlander, education committee chair.
"Diane was promoted to access services manager in February 2006, and while she has experience in electronic reserves, she is now tasked to learn interlibrary loan and be a new manager."
The award will be presented at the RUSA STARS Interlibrary Loan Discussion Group Meeting on Saturday, June 24, 2006, 8 - 10 a.m., during the ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans.
