FableVision recognized as 2005 Carnegie Medal co-recipient

CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is pleased to acknowledge FableVision, multimedia studio and educational publisher, as a co-recipient of the 2005 Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Children's Video for “The Dot.” The video is based on the book “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds.

ALSC truly regrets the inadvertent omission of FableVision from the original award announcement, which was made on January 17, 2005, in Boston during the American Library Association Midwinter Meeting. FableVision shares the Carnegie honors with co-producer Weston Woods. Paul Gagne and Melissa Reilly of Weston Woods were presented with Carnegie Medals in June 2005 during the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.

Those medals have been recalled and new Carnegie Medals are being struck that will include the names of both production companies. Medals will be given to all individuals involved in the project, including Peter H. Reynolds, Karen Bresnahan, Gary Goldberger, and Jonathan Meath of FableVision, and Gagne and Reilly of Weston Woods.

2005 Carnegie Award acceptance remarks from both producers will be published in the Spring 2006 issue of ALSC's journal
Children and Libraries .
