Online registration extended for

Midwinter 2007 Advocacy Institute

CHICAGO – The deadline for registering online to attend the Advocacy Institute at the 2007 ALA Winter Meeting has been extended to January 5, 2007. By registering online for $25, both members and non-members alike will save 50% off the $50 onsite registration fee.

The Advocacy Institute takes place on January 19, 2007, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel in Seattle. The morning session will focus on advocacy basics such as message development and coalition-building techniques. Afternoon sessions feature topics such as increasing library funding, maintaining budgets and crisis communications. The Advocacy Institute is open to ALA members and non-members, including those who are not registered for the ALA 2007 Midwinter Meeting.

The Advocacy Institute is co-sponsored by YALSA, the Washington Library Association, the Idaho Library Association and the Oregon Library Association and is coordinated by the Advocacy Institute Task Force of the ALA Public Awareness Committee in cooperation with The Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), The Chapter Relations Committee, The Committee on Legislation and Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA).
