LAMA launches new online journal

CHICAGO - The Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) launched its new electronic quarterly journal Library Administration and Management Online (LA&M Online) on December 18, 2006.

Available as a benefit of membership in LAMA, LA&M Online focuses on assisting library administrators and managers at all levels as they deal with day-to-day challenges. In-depth articles address a wide variety of management issues and highlight examples of successful management methods used in libraries. Features include interviews with prominent practitioners in libraries and related fields and columns with practical advice on managing libraries.

The electronic format of LA&M Online includes features not found in the traditional paper journal, including reader feed-back blogs, color images, additional charts and graphs and podcasts. LA&M Online also will have vastly reduced storage requirements.

The conversion to a full-featured Web publication will be phased in, and will be completed by 2009. The first phase includes making back issues of LA&M available on the Web as PDF files. Additionally, LA&M is available in print to paid subscribers.

The mission of the Library Administration and Management Association ( is to encourage and nurture current and future library leaders, and to develop and promote outstanding leadership and management practices. LAMA is a division of the American Library Association.
