New ALSC Wiki provides fresh communication opportunities
CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), is pleased to announce its new Wiki at http://wikis.ala.org/alsc. Joining in on the latest technology and communication phenomenon, ALSC established Wiki space to provide its members and others interested in library service to children a place to share ideas and best practices; network with colleagues; discuss issues, trends, and opportunities; and communicate ALSC committee happenings and events.
Currently, the ALSC Wiki provides convenient hot links to the most commonly visited and informational pages on the ALSC Web site, space for ALSC committees to establish their own Wikis and the ChildTech Wiki, which addresses technology issues and research within the realm of library services to children, maintained by the ALSC Children & Technology Committee.
“We are very excited to be using this technology,” said Teresa Walls, chair of the Children and Technology Committee. “Our committee is charged with the tasks of educating and encouraging youth librarians to be leaders on technology issues in their institutions, and identifying technology issues impacting youth librarians. It is our hope that the ALSC and ChildTech Wikis provide essential resources and opportunities for youth librarians to explore and build upon their technology experience.”
All are welcome to visit the Wiki at http://wikis.ala.org/alsc and contribute links, suggestions and ideas. For more information about ALSC, visit www.ala.org/alsc.
