2006 Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship winner named

CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce Audra Eagle of Helendale, California is the 2006 recipient of the Christopher J. Hoy/ERT Scholarship.

The $5,000 scholarship was established by a donation from Hoy's family and the ALA Exhibits Round Table.
The scholarship is awarded to persons pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies.
Hoy was the director of ALA Conference Services for more than 20 years.

Eagle first recognized her love for library service as a work-study library assistant at Duke University.
She says the "library is a type of leveling ground, a place where self-education is the only requirement or expectation for those who enter."
Eagle is interested in public service and diversity matters in library science.
She has a passion for academic librarianship and a commitment to the field of library science.

Eagle plans to bring her love of knowledge, desire to help others educate themselves, and unique background to the field of library science.
She aspires to become a lifelong educator and advocate for libraries and looks forward to a lifetime of service as a librarian.

Eagle will be attending the University of California - Los Angeles.
