ALSC to host pre-Midwinter workshop on early literacy and story-time
CHICAGO - The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), a division of the American Library Association (ALA), will hold a workshop, “The Fun and Facts of Early Literacy: Communicating with Parents and Caregivers Through Story-time,” on Friday, January 20, 2006, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., in San Antonio.
The advance registration deadline is December 9.
The aim of the workshop is to show attendees how to:
- Develop story times (newborn to age five) incorporating research, information and activities promoting early literacy development based on the Every Child Ready to Read @ your library® project
- Articulate to staff, administrators, partners, and funders how story times support early literacy.
Speakers are Saroj Ghoting, early childhood literacy consultant, and Pamela Martin-Diaz, branch manager, Allen County (Ind.) Public Library, Shawnee Branch.
