Time is running out for Advocacy Institute online registration
CHICAGO – November 22, 2005 – Time is running out to register online for the American Library Association's (ALA) Advocacy Institute at the 2006 Midwinter Meeting in San Antonio. To register, visit
www.ala.org/midwinter. Online registration will close December 9.
The Advocacy Institute will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2006, at the Hilton Palacio del Rio in San Antonio. On-site registration will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The cost for the 2006 Advocacy Institute is $25 for both ALA members and non-members.
Co-sponsored by the Texas Library Assn., New Mexico Library Assn., and Arkansas Library, Assn., the program is designed for new advocates or anyone wanting to refresh their skills. Attendees will learn strategies to successfully advocate for their libraries, including message development, lobbying basics and how to create coalitions with library staff members, trustees and Friends.
The Advocacy Institute is coordinated by the Advocacy Institute Task Force of the Public Awareness Committee, The Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), The Chapter Relations Committee, The Committee on Legislation and Friends of Libraries USA. For more information, visit
