ACRL/CHOICE seek applicants for “Resources in College Libraries” editorial board

CHICAGO – The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) and
CHOICE magazine now are accepting applications to serve on the editorial board of “ Resources for College Libraries” (RCL), a new core collection of recommended titles for academic libraries. The successor to “Books for College Libraries, 3rd Edition” (BCL3), RCL will be an online product whose coverage includes both electronic resources and books. The target publication date is September 2006.

“While a successor to BCL3 is long overdue, we hope that the academic library community will find Resources for College Libraries to have been well worth the wait,” said Irving Rockwood, editor & publisher of
CHOICE . “Thanks to today's online technology, RCL will be an infinitely more flexible, useful, and powerful tool than was ever possible in print. Most important, our plan is to keep RCL current via periodic, regular updates that will ensure its continuing timeliness. Although editorial work is only now in the early stages, this is a truly exciting project, on which we expect to make rapid progress in the coming months. In order to ensure its success, we will be relying heavily on advice and input from the library community including, not least, that of the RCL Editorial Board.”

Applicants should show a record of service in academic librarianship and have a special interest in the principles, practices, and needs of collection development and analysis. Positions are available for one or two-year terms.

Applicants must be members of the American Library Association (ALA) and ACRL and must be available to attend RCL Board meetings during the ALA Midwinter Meeting and Annual Conference. Self-nominations are acceptable.

For more information or to submit a nomination, please contact Irving Rockwood, editor & publisher of
