Registration for the Advocacy Institute extended

Chicago – American Library Association (ALA) members, trustees and library Friends are encouraged to register in advance for the Advocacy Institute, to be held on Friday, June 24, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 East North Water Street, prior to the ALA Annual Conference. Online registration for this program has been extended until June 10, 2005.

Registration is only $10 for both members and non-members and includes lunch with guest speaker, ALA President Carol A. Brey-Casiano.

Scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3:30 pm, the program will target the beginning library advocate. Attendees will learn to build a community of support for their libraries, as well as develop strategies for dealing with library issues specific to their communities. Organizers believe that the program will be meaningful to academic, school, public and special librarians.

The Carol A. Brey-Casiano Presidential Committee, The Public Awareness Committee, The Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), The Chapter Relations Committee, The Committee on Legislation and Friends of Libraries USA coordinate The Advocacy Institute. The Advocacy Institute is the recipient of the 2004 World Book Goal Award.

Onsite registration is also welcome. For more information, visit
