Swap & Shop showcases jazzy pr at Annual Conference

CHICAGO - Would you like to participate in one of the best library public relations shows in the world? Do you want to learn more about marketing and public relations from the pros? If so, you are invited to attend the biggest Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) event at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference: Swap & Shop!

This year's Swap & Shop program, “Hit the Right Note with Jazzy PR,” will take place on Sunday, June 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in McCormick Place Convention Center, Room S102, during the ALA Conference in Chicago. The event will showcase the best reading promotions for children, teens, adults and families; it also will feature annual reports, calendars of events, newsletters, bookmarks, bibliographies, fund-raising materials and more. Attendees can pick up a host of free marketing and publicity materials submitted by hundreds of libraries of all types and sizes.

Swap & Shop will display the winners of “The Best of Show,” a selection of the best individual public relations materials produced in the past year, chosen by a panel of experienced library and public relations professionals. The Best of Show award ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m.

Swap & Shop will highlight several special features, including a “PR Makeover” of library brochures by Linda Wallace and Peggy Barber of Library Communication Strategies . These public relations experts will demonstrate how to improve promotional materials from fair to excellent. John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award judges will provide consultations on how to participate in this prestigious contest and will display the winners of the recent competition.

The Campaign for America's Libraries, ALA's public awareness and advocacy campaign, will share materials that have incorporated the “@ your library®” brand .

Swap & Shop also will display the current and past winners of @ Your Library Awards sponsored by Friends of Libraries U.S.A. (FOLUSA), as well as the winning entries of the Best Practices in Marketing Academic and Research Libraries Awards sponsored by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL).

Swap & Shop attendees also will find on display the winners of the "Share the Wealth" Packets and the L.PeRCy Awards sponsored by the Library Public Relations Council.

With the support of the ALA International Relations Office (IRO), Swap & Shop will present for the first time an international display of marketing and publicity items from libraries around the world. Other displays will showcase promotional materials highlighting diversity issues, products from marketing companies that work with libraries, and free samples of publicity materials produced by library vendors .
