"What’s the smartest card you own? It’s your library card, your ticket to a world of opportunity. Get It. Use It. @ your library."
This is just one of several new public service announcements recorded by George Lopez, actor-comedian and author, on behalf of the American Library Association’s Campaign for America’s Libraries and the Public Library Association’s Smartest Card Campaign.
Lopez, who stars in the hit ABC comedy series, "George Lopez," now in its fourth season, talks up the importance of libraries, librarians and library cards in a series of new print, television and radio PSAs.
The print PSAs are available in English and Spanish, in color and black and white, on the
@ your library® Web site and may be customized by local libraries.
New closed-captioned television spots also are available. Two of them promote "The Smartest Card," one promotes "Today’s Library" and the other highlights librarians as "The Ultimate Search Engine." A VHS version of the spots, intended for internal meetings and presentations, may be purchased from ALA Graphics for $25. A Beta SP tape for local broadcast/cable stations is available for $40 and may be customized by local libraries. To order the Beta version, see the
@ your library Web site.
Radio PSAs with the same messages are available on a CD from ALA Graphics for $25 and may be customized by local libraries. The television and radio PSAs can be
previewed on the @ your library Web site.
Lopez also is featured on a brand new Smartest Card poster, as well as a READ poster, both from ALA Graphics. To order Graphics products, visit the
