Chapter co-sponsors sought for the Advocacy Institute




CHICAGO - The American Library Association (ALA) is seeking State and Regional Chapters to co-sponsor the Advocacy Institute, a pre-conference scheduled for Friday, June 24, at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 East North Water Street, prior to the ALA Annual Conference.

Scheduled from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., the Advocacy Institute is designed for the beginning library advocate, or for advocates who want to sharpen their skills. Organizers are hoping that Chapter co-sponsorship will help drive attendance and strengthen advocacy activity on the state level. The $10 registration fee for both members and non-members includes lunch.

Brey-Casiano Presidential Committee, The Public Awareness Committee, and The Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), The Chapter Relations Committee, The Committee on Legislation and Friends of Libraries USA. The Advocacy Institute is the recipient of the 2004 World Book Goal Award.
