Inspire summer fun with the new ALA Graphics catalog
As the warm weather unfolds and schools move into summer break, it’s time to start promoting summer fun @ your library™.
The new ALA Graphics Summer Catalog is full of inventive products that will help librarians and educators promote literacy, reading, and libraries to their community during the summer season and throughout the year.
New Children/Youth Book Award Posters 2003
The American Library Association (ALA) announces the release of the 2003 Children’s Book Award Posters featuring the winning and honor books for the 2003 Caldecott; Newbery; Coretta Scott King Author; Coretta Scott King Illustrator; Robert F. Sibert; and Michael L. Printz awards.
These posters highlight the best in this year’s children’s books.
Recognized worldwide for their high quality, ALA awards guide parents, educators, librarians and others in selecting the best materials for youth and children. Committees composed of librarians and other children's literature experts select the winners.
Teen Read Week, October 19 – 25, 2003
Introducing the new Teen Read Week product for 2003.
Teen Read Week (TRW) is a national literacy initiative aimed at young adults. This year’s poetry-centric theme is: Slammin’ @ your library. The exciting new TRW product line will be launched in the Summer Graphics catalog, which includes the cutting-edge Poetry Resource CD
. This innovative CD allows libraries to save money by creating their own beautiful, customized artwork to promote TRW and poetry.
The CD includes graphics for posters, bookmarks, page borders, Web banners, tip sheets, and much more.
The official TRW poster, mini poster, bookmark, magnetic poetry, poet buttons, and poetry journals also are available. Celebrate this year and encourage teens to read for the fun of it!

In addition to being a star soccer player with the San Jose Earthquakes,
Landon Donovan is a spokesperson for the Get a Kick Out of Reading/¡Lee Y Marca un Golazo! Campaign sponsored by Major League Soccer (MLS) and the National Education Association (NEA). Landon won the 2002 ESPY award for best male soccer player, and participated in the 200 Olympics and 2002 World Cup.
Get Big on Reading @ your library with Clifford
Everyone loves Clifford the big red dog.
This popular television and book character has partnered with the ALA to promote reading.
The colorful Clifford poster and bookmark were produced in conjunction with Scholastic.
