Trinidad Valentin receives ALTA/Gale Grant
Trinidad Valentin is the recipient of the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA)/Gale Outstanding Trustee Conference Grant for 2003. Established in 1990, the award provides $750 to enable two public library trustees to attend an American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference for the first time.
Valentin is currently president of the Arizona Library Friends executive board. He also has been a volunteer and president of the Friends of the Sierra Vista (Az.) Public Library executive board and has been active in state advocacy efforts, serving on the legislative committee of the Arizona Library Association. Valentin was named as a new library commission member by the City Council in July 2001.
“I wish to attend an ALA Annual Conference to expand my knowledge of library functions and through that provide information to the Arizona Library Friends and Friends groups in Arizona,” said Valentin.
The award will be presented during the ALTA Opening Session at the ALA Annual Conference.
More information about the ALTA/GALE Outstanding Trustee Conference Grant can be found on the ALTA Awards Web site.
ALTA is a division of ALA.
