Booklist Editor wins Industry Award from Romance Writers of America

Donna Seaman,
Booklist adult books associate editor, is this year’s recipient of the Romance Writers of America (RWA) Industry Award for her work as editor of
Booklist’s romance section. RWA is the national trade association for authors of romance fiction.

The annual Industry Award was created to recognize one member of the romance-publishing community who exhibits outstanding care for and energy toward the promotion, understanding and value of romance fiction. Industry professionals are nominated by the RWA membership-at-large, and the winner is chosen by the RWA board of directors.

“We’re thrilled that Donna’s hard work in developing our romance fiction section is being recognized with this award,” said
Booklist Editor and Publisher Bill Ottt.

Under Seaman’s direction, the magazine publishes a special “Spotlight on Romance” every year in September, supplementing its ongoing coverage of the romance genre.

“We review more than 300 romance novels every year,” Seaman noted.
“We’ve been fortunate to build an outstanding roster of reviewers, including Joyce Saricks, John Charles and Shelley Mosley, all of whom are past recipients of the RWA’s Librarian of the Year Award.”

Seaman was presented with the RWA Industry Award at the group’s annual conference in New York City in July.
