Wells Fargo Home Mortgage extends relationshipwith Campaign for America’s Libraries
The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce that Wells Fargo Home Mortgage has extended its support of @ your library®, The Campaign for America’s Libraries, through the end of 2003.
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage began its relationship with The Campaign for America’s Libraries in April 2002. In collaboration with ALA, the company developed “
The Path to Homeownership Begins @ your library®,” a program designed to increase awareness of the home-buying process among all homebuyers, and showcase the resources libraries have available to help homebuyers make well-informed financial decisions.
“The American Library Association is pleased that Wells Fargo is continuing its support of The Campaign for America’s Libraries,” says ALA Executive Director Keith Michael Fiels. “This partnership has enabled us to extend the campaign nationally to audiences we might not otherwise reach. This type of outreach is critical to promoting the campaign’s mission of creating a greater awareness of the role that libraries and librarians play in our communities.”
Administered by the Reference User Services Association (RUSA),
the Path to Homeownership Begins @ your library partnership was piloted in libraries in 10 cities this past year. Libraries in those cities hosted free seminars for the public about the home buying process. Libraries continuing with the program this fall include: Boston Public Library, Houston Public Library, District of Columbia Public Library, Queens Borough (N.Y.) Public Library and the San Diego Public Library.
“Homeownership education is a major focus for us and our relationship with the American Library Association allows us to reach deeper into the communities we serve, providing an even greater opportunity to reach our consumers,” said Brent Berry, national alliances manager for Emerging Markets at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. The Campaign for America’s Libraries is a multi-year public education effort sponsored by the American Library Association to speak loudly and clearly about the value of libraries and librarians in the 21
st century. In addition to Wells Fargo, other founding partners include Major League Baseball; Morningstar Foods Inc., maker of Hershey’s Milk; Woman’s Day Magazine; 3M Library Systems; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions; and the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress.
