The new American Library Association (ALA) Graphics catalog captures the excitement of the holiday season while providing inventive and affordable products that help librarians and educators promote literacy, reading and their libraries during the holiday season and throughout the year.

New products include:

Be Curious
@ your library®

This inventive new program encourages early literacy for babies and young children. The cornerstone of the program is the “Curious Read CD” that features a step-by-step planning guide, customizable digital art for posters, bookmarks, certificates, stickers, games, and other promotional pieces. Other program products include a mini poster, “Curious Reader” sticker, “Curious Kid” ribbon/bookmark, and a growth chart. The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) and the Public Library Association (PLA) Early Literacy Project in cooperation with ALA Graphics and Houghton Mifflin Company developed program items. .

Customization @ your library®

Make a splash with customized posters, banners and bookmarks. ALA has enhanced the customization program with more design options and easier ordering. This is a great way for libraries to promote their services to the community by adding their name, address, web site, logo, hours and special message to a variety of colorful, ALA-exclusive bookmarks.
The new Welcome Banner is also available for customization with your library’s information.
The next deadline for customized bookmarks is November 11, 2003.

Show off your classification skills with the clever new Dewey mug

Julia Stiles celebrity READ poster

Julia Stiles, a native New Yorker, and a devoted reader, writer, and actress, is the latest celebrity to pose for ALA’s READ poster series. This winter Stiles joins Julia Roberts in the uplifting and poignant drama “Mona Lisa Smiles” as a young woman at Wellesley College in the 1950s. Julia is reading “Me Talk Pretty One Day” by David Sedaris.

The American Library Association’s (ALA) Graphics department is pleased to introduce a new bookmark series that encourages early reading for babies.
The colorful bookmark features a baby reader with the tagline “Raise a Reader.” ALA Graphics is looking for a baby reader to be featured on the next bookmark.
People are encouraged to submit a photo of a baby being read to, or reading for the Raise a Reader Contest.
