RUSA announces President's Program
The Reference and User Services Association (RUSA) President's Program,
Reference Interview: Connecting In-Person and in Cyberspace, will be held Monday, June 17, 2002, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.at the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in Atlanta.
Reference interviews are currently conducted in person, on the telephone, via email and through live chat on the Web. What elements remain constant in all forums, and what must change as we move through the spectrum of communication channels? Explore this topic with our speakers and a reaction panel composed of M. Kathleen Kern (University of Illinois); Marie L. Radford (Pratt SILS); and David Tyckoson (California State University - Fresno).
The program speakers are: Catherine Ross, professor and acting dean, Faculty of Information and Media Studies, The University of Western Ontario; Jana Ronan, interactive reference coordinator, RefeXpress, George A. Smathers Libraries, University of Florida; Tyckoson, head of reference, California State University, Henry Madden Library; Kern, visiting assistant reference librarian, Central Reference Services, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Radford, associate professor, Pratt School of Information and Library Science.
