Margot Sutton Conahan named director of professional development for ACRL

The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) is pleased to announce that Margot Sutton Conahan is the division's new director of professional development. For the past four years, Conahan worked directly on ACRL's professional development programs, initially starting out as the professional development assistant until May 1999, when she was promoted to the position of program officer.

"Margot has been an asset to the association and we're pleased to have her expertise," said Mary Ellen Davis, ACRL executive director. "We look to her leadership to broaden ACRL's professional development program."

In the role of program officer, Conahan was responsible for ACRL's entire slate of professional development offerings, including the biennial National Conference, preconferences, Immersion Programs, institutes, workshops and Job Shadow Day. She oversaw all aspects of professional development planning, including budget development, publicity and promotion, logistics, and on-site management.

Conahan also worked closely with ACRL professional development member groups and outside vendors, and currently serves as staff liaison to numerous committees. In her new role, Conahan will continue to be responsible for the development, implementation and management of existing professional development programs and also will work on the creation and development of new programs and delivery methods. Conahan received a bachelor in literature with a minor in German from Truman State University.

ACRL is a division of the American Library Association.
