ALSC announces 2002 National Institute
The Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC) is pleased to announce its 2002 National Institute. The institute will be held October 17-19, 2002, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis.
A preconference on "Kids and Technology" will be held Thursday, October 17, at the St. Louis Public Library. The institute dinner and Opening General Session will take place that evening at the Hyatt.
On Friday, attendees will participate in workshops in three leadership tracks: "Emergent Literacy," featuring Dr. William H. Teale and Dr. Virginia Walter; "Knowing What's Best: Techniques for Evaluating Resources for Children," featuring Dr. Pamela Barron and Dr. Carol Doll; and "Guys Read!" featuring beloved children's author Jon Scieszka. Lunch will feature American Library Association (ALA) President-Elect Mitch Freedman. An evening reception at the St. Louis Public Library will close the day's events.
Saturday's activities will include three mini-workshops presented by ALSC "Emerging Leaders."
Registration materials are being mailed to ALSC members in May.
ALSC is a division of ALA.
