H.W. Wilson Library Staff Development Grant recipient named
The Sarasota County (Fla.) Library System is the 2001 recipient of the H.W. Wilson Library Staff Development Grant presented by the American Library Association (ALA).
The award, a citation and $3,500 donated by H.W. Wilson Company, is given to a library organization whose application demonstrated the greatest merit for a staff development program designed to further the goals and objectives of the library.
The library system conducts an annual Staff Development Day, during which all six libraries close to the public, allowing staff members to attend the training. The H.W. Wilson Grant will enable them to hire a well-know speaker in the field of community involvement. Staff Development Day is intended to promote and support the library as a part of the county government's vision: a continuously improving, customer-focused, accountable team.
"The Sarasota County Library System was chosen because of its commitment to inspiring and supporting employees in their efforts to achieve the highest levels of service throughout their community," Award Chair Michael LaCroix said.
The H.W. Wilson Grant will be will be presented Tuesday, June 19, during the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco.
