Gale Group/BRASS Business Librarianship Award recipient named

Karen Chapman, business reference librarian at Angelo Bruno Business Library, University of Alabama, is the recipient of the 2001 Gale Group Award for Excellence in Business Librarianship administered by the Business Reference and Services Section (BRASS) of the Reference and User Services Association (RUSA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

The award, a citation and $3,000 donated by The Gale Group, is given to an individual for distinguished activities in the field of business librarianship.

"Karen Chapman was chosen because of her significant contributions to business librarianship publications, especially her widely used business reference books, 'Commodities Price Locator' and 'Investment Statistics Locator,'" Award Committee Chair Lydia LaFaro stated. "Chapman has provided long and dedicated service to BRASS in many capacities, including developing and maintaining the section's Web pages, which serve as a communication link with business librarians everywhere."

The plaque will be presented June 18, 2001, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the RUSA Awards Ceremony during the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco.
