Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund winner announced

Harriet Lightman is this year's recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Committee's Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund.

The award recognizes Sarah Comly Norris Bogle, a prominent U.S. librarian who made notable contributions to international library service. The Bogle Memorial Fund and the Pratt Institute School of Information and Library Science provide a $1,000 award to assist a librarian in attending his or her first international conference. Lightman will attend an international conference in Paris.

Lightman is a bibliographer of history, economics and philosophy at Northwestern University. She also selects materials for the Northwestern University Library in French, German, Italian and Spanish. She particularly specializes in French, which allows her to act as an unofficial consultant on French books and periodicals.

Lightman will be recognized at the beginning of the International Librarians Reception at ALA's Annual Conference on Monday, June 18, 2001.
