ALCTS Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award recipient announced
Karen Schmidt, associate university librarian for collections and professor of library administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, received the Leadership in Library Acquisitions Award, presented by the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Acquisitions Section.
The award, a citation and $1500 grant donated by Harrassowitz, recognizes the contributions and outstanding leadership of an individual to the field of acquisitions librarianship.
"Schmidt received the award in recognition of her outstanding achievement in all areas associated with the award," Award Committee Chair Wanda V. Dole said. "In addition to outstanding contributions to professional associations, to the education of acquisitions professionals and to the advancement of the profession, she has made an exceptional contribution to research literature in both acquisitions and collection management."
Schmidt received a master's in library science from Indiana University, and a doctorate in library and information science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The award will be presented Monday, June 18, at 9:30 a.m., during the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference in San Francisco.
