ALA Editions launches new Web site

ALA Editions, the publishing imprint of the American Library Association, launches the new
Web site this month, complete with a new design and up to date content that complements the ALA Online Store and its books. Designed to be a resource for readers and authors, the new site includes sample chapters, author interviews and previews of forthcoming books.

  • Connecting Readers and Authors Readers can learn more about
ALA Editions authors. A new interview with "Teaching Banned Books" author Pat Scales is available on the site. Additional interviews will be added regularly, and plans are underway for a directory of current authors, including a Web site link, email address and an icon indicating those authors who are interested in speaking.
  • Connecting Authors and Editors In
For Authors Only, current and prospective authors will find information on how to submit proposals to editors, FAQ about writing for ALA Editions and various guidelines.
  • Preview ALA Editions Books The
Samplers section features chapter-length excerpts, in PDF format, from books available on the ALA Online Store. More than 25 new samplers were added. New samplers will be added monthly as new books are published.
Forthcoming Books offers a pre-publication look at the featured books' table of contents. The home page lists the newest books available in the ALA Online Store.
  • Making It Easier to Get The Books You Need As readers and authors navigate through the Web site, they'll notice it is easy to go directly to the ALA Online Store when they decide to buy book. The site will help readers and users make an informed decision about the books they need to expand their knowledge and expertise in their fields.
