2001 Gale Group Scholarship winner named
The American Library Association (ALA) has named Suzanne M. Harold of Portland, Ore., as the recipient of the 2001 Gale Group Scholarship.
The $3,000 scholarship is provided by donations made by The Gale Group, Inc., a company that publishes and maintains a database of reference materials for schools, libraries and businesses to the ALA Annual Scholarship Bash. The scholarship is awarded to a person pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies.
Harold's interest in libraries began when she was very young. She says the library was her favorite place to visit. As a volunteer at the Multnomah County Library, she assisted with the summer reading and homework help programs and was later hired as a library clerk. Harold enjoys the excitement of helping young people in the library and says there's no place she'd rather be. She will attend Syracuse University.
Harold was recognized in June during the ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco.
