CHICAGOJoin Core for the webinar “Technical Services Tools at Work” on July 26, 2023, at 1 p.m. CT. This webinar will consist of two short presentations on tools useful for the technical services department. The first, “Self-Paced Technical Services Training Using Trello” presented by Diana Simpson, will be on the topic of using Trello to assist with staff training. Simpson will discuss the use of the Trello project management tool as one way to keep training organized and to facilitate self-paced training for new staff and students as they begin work in Technical Services. The other, “Semi-Automated Techniques and Tools for Efficiency: The Case of ETD Cataloging” presented by Nicole Lewis, will be on the use of metadata tools like OpenRefine and MarcEdit to improve efficiency in cataloging. Using an ETD cataloging workflow as a case study, Lewis will discuss how these and related tools help improve efficiency for both bibliographic and authority records.
