The American Library Association (ALA) is pleased to announce the selection of Jennifer Nguyen Bernal of Berkeley, California as the 2022 David H. Clift Scholarship recipient.
The David H. Clift Scholarship was named for a former director of the American Library Association. The $3,000 scholarship is awarded to a person pursuing a master's degree in library and information studies.
Bernal says her commitment to librarianship involves “taking a hands-on approach by listening and engaging with marginalized communities’ needs and concerns.” She wants to help provide communities with information sources to understand issues such as race, class, and identity as they relate to marginalized voices. Her current research interests meet at the intersection of ethnic studies and library and information studies with a focus on open access to information sources for social justice aims.
Bernal will be attending the University of California – Los Angeles.
