Fuhrman elected 2022-2024 AASL Director-At-Large, Chapters

CHICAGO – Dr. Cathi Fuhrman, school librarian at State College Area High School in State College, Pennsylvania, has been elected American Association of School Librarians (AASL) director-at-large, chapters for 2022-2024. Fuhrman will take her seat on the AASL Board of Directors during the 2022 ALA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

"AASL and its members are the foundational contributors who transform teaching and learning in the school library profession.” Said Fuhrman. “As a member of the AASL Board of Directors, I will be representing 48 school library state chapters, ensuring their voices are heard and their issues are understood by the association. My work will be to provide a bridge that networks school librarians from their state chapters to the AASL Board. I look forward to impacting students and school librarians at the national level by building leaders, sharing best practices, and advocating for learners."

Fuhrman is a member of AASL and the Intellectual Freedom Roundtable. She currently serves on the ALA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Assembly and as past chair of the AASL Chapter Assembly. She is an active volunteer leader for the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association, having served as president, co-chair of the teaching and learning committee, and as legislation chairperson. Along with being a building-level school librarian, Fuhrman is currently an adjunct professor at Kutztown University and an instructor at McDaniel College
