Design and Marketing for Libraries Webinar

75-minute live webinar scheduled for Wednesday, May 11, 2022

Learn marketing principles and standards of design to apply in library programs and services. Design and marketing are now a required skills in libraries. This webinar teaches you practical principles and skills to promote and communicate your library’s services and programs. Learn the difference between a good and bad design and the theory and principles that drive the creation of good design. Employ practical skills in creating designs for your library with an introduction to various tools and applications. Learn how to market your library by identifying your audience and how to best engage with them and create a message that identifies your library as a staple in your community.

This webinar, presented by Jennifer Blair, is ideal for librarians and library staff involved in creating services and programs, promoting programs, and those involved in promoting their library through social media, the web, virtual and in-person programs.

Project Management in Libraries

Four-week asynchronous course beginning on Monday, May 16, 2022

In this class, participants will review the skills and experiences needed to be exemplary project managers in a library organization. Interactive and dynamic activities such as discussion, reading assignments and class exercise will accompany each week’s lectures. The four-part topical tour of project management will culminate with a final project based on project management principles.

The instructor, Debra Lucas, has been the Head of Reference and Interlibrary Loan at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, since 2002. She is the author of Marketing the 21st Century Library: the Time is Now, published by Chandos, an imprint of Elsevier. She has been an online instructor in Library Studies since 2012.

Design and Marketing for Libraries Course

Four-week asynchronous course beginning on Monday, June 13, 2022

The Design and Marketing for Libraries course will teach students how to market their library to send positive messages, advocate, promote and engage with their users. This course is for librarians and library staff of any type (public, academic, etc) that are responsible for or involved with promoting the library via social media and other engagement tools.

The instructor, Jennifer Blair, is the Head of User Services, Librarian and Assistant Professor at Azusa Pacific University. Her role is dedicated to the user experience, including marketing the library, and teaching. Her experience in academic and public libraries as well as work experience in art and design allow her to employ visionary strategies to enrich progress and enhance advancement for students.
