New posters from award-winning illustrators and more debut in winter ALA Graphics catalog

CHICAGO – The winter ALA Graphics catalog delivers a host of exciting posters and bookmarks to inspire and encourage readers of all ages. Gracing the cover is a new poster by artist Michaela Goade, recipient of the 2021 Caldecott Medal for “We Are Water Protectors” written by Carole Lindstrom. Inspired by the many Indigenous-led movements across North America, “We Are Water Protectors” issues an urgent rallying cry to safeguard the Earth’s water from harm and corruption. There is also a matching bookmark.

From award-winning illustrator and author Cozbi A. Cabrera come a heartwarming poster and bookmark inspired by her 2020 picture book, “Me and Mama,” which received both a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor and a Caldecott Honor. Coretta Scott King-John Steptoe Award-winning illustrator Charly Palmer motivates kids to read with a slam dunk of a new poster and bookmark inspired by his forthcoming book “The Legend of Gravity: A Tall Basketball Tale.”

Get ready to celebrate National Library Week April 3 – 9, 2022 with new “Connect with your Library” materials. The 2022 theme spotlights libraries as places to get connected to broadband, computers, and other technology resources. It reinforces the idea that libraries are places to connect with media, programs, ideas—and, of course, books! Moreover, it’s a call to action: an invitation for community members to visit, use, and advocate for their libraries.
