Reminder to register for ALA’s Inaugural Virtual Volunteer Fair on September 14, 2021 and to submit Volunteer Applications for Committees by September 30, 2021!

The American Library Association’s inaugural Virtual Volunteer Fair will be held on September 14, 2021, from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm CT.  Members should register for the event, but attendance for the full two hours is not required.  Members can drop in and out as their schedule allows.  The fair will be an opportunity for ALA Members to drop in and speak with committee members and staff liaisons from various ALA groups that offer volunteer opportunities, including ALA Association committees, Divisions, and Round Tables.  This is an opportunity for members to ask more specific questions about a committee or group’s work, time commitment, typical schedule, how to volunteer, etc!  You can read more details on the Virtual Volunteer Fair here.

And don’t forget to submit your volunteer application for Association, Council, and Joint Committees by September 30, 2021Lessa Kanani’opua Pelayo-Lozada, American Library Association President-Elect, encourages members to lead together for change with her by volunteering to serve on ALA, Council, and Joint committees for the 2022-2024 term (beginning July 1, 2022). Serving on a committee provides members with leadership experience, new networking avenues, and the opportunity to impact specific association and library profession topics.

Members can volunteer via the online committee volunteer form. Again, to be considered for the 2022-2024 term, forms must be submitted no later than September 30, 2021.  Any forms received after this date will be considered for the next term (2023-2025). Read more details here!
