CHICAGO – The spring/summer ALA Graphics catalog delivers a host of fresh posters and bookmarks encouraging readers of all ages. Gracing the cover is a vibrant poster featuring Varian Johnson’s Twins, illustrated by Shannon Wright. Inspired by the graphic novel series, the poster and bookmark feature twins and best friends Maureen and Francine Carter reading together. In addition to being a twin himself, Varian Johnson was inspired to write Twins by his daughters, who love graphic novels but struggled to find ones where they could see Black girls like themselves as stars of the story.

The new catalog also unveils the official design of the 2021 Banned Books Week theme, Books Unite Us. Banned Books Week will take place September 26 – October 2, 2021. New materials include the Books Unite Us poster and bookmark, Field Report 2020, and Most Challenged Books of 2020 bookmark. Digital versions of these products are also available, along with a discounted set.
