Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table (GNCRT)

American Library Association

In the midst of cancelled conventions, closures, and many other rapid changes to the way libraries and library staff work, the Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table (GNCRT) is going virtual! The GNCRT will spotlight online comic reading and recommendations, resources and toolkits, and other #libcomix content virtually through #LibcomixOnline. These series of events and spotlighted resources will feature live streamed webinars, recorded interviews and discussions with some of our favorite comic creators, stores, and libraries plus virtual brainstorming sessions, and maybe even a few live draws or virtual art drops.

Join us for this #LibcomixOnline salon of ongoing events, and community partnership as we interview creators about their upcoming titles and highlight how we can support the comics and libraries and each other in these challenging times.

Join us for our LIVE launch on Friday March 27th from 5 - 7 p.m. CT with GNCRT members including President Amie Wright (Edmonton, Alberta CANADA), GNCRT Member At Large Moni Barrette (Chula Vista, California USA) -— joined by a few special library and comic guests! Register online now.

Next up on Wed, April 1st, Amie Wright will talk collection development and readers’ advisory with a special guest. Discussion will cover new and upcoming titles, recommended back issues, and best practices. Attendees can weigh in with their faves or ask for advice. Registration link will be posted on the GNCRT #LibcomixOnline webpage as soon as it’s available.

Speaking of readers’ advisory - we’ve also taken our GNCRT Pop-Up Library Readers’ Advisory form online! Looking for your next great read (comix or beyond)? Fill out our #LibcomixRA form and get three personalized reading suggestions. #LibcomixRA will be dispensed by GNCRT members and more special guests.

The GNCRT is committed to professional development within librarianship and to public outreach and advocacy around comics, graphic novels and comics readership at all levels and for all ages. Comics are for everyone.

As more online events and sessions are added to the #LibcomixOnline slate you can get the latest news on schedules and events — including registration links —  at the Graphic Novels & Comics Round Table website and keep an eye on the GNCRT social media channels for updates about special guests and ways you can participate.
