CHICAGO – Next month, the Public Library Association (PLA) will host a free webinar featuring the pilot participants in its Fostering Creative Community Connections (FCCC) initiative. PLA launched FCCC in 2017 to strengthen a culture of literacy and reading, while increasing public awareness and use of library programs and services, by bringing stories to unexpected places. With funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, PLA teamed up with French company Short Édition to bring their Short Story Dispenser and digital content creation platform to four pilot libraries.

The Fostering Creative Community Connections webinar will be held 1-2 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, Dec. 5. Library professionals interested in exploring new and innovative ways to engage patrons in literary programming, outreach, and community partnerships, are encouraged to attend. Participants in the December webinar will hear how participating public libraries are using the Short Story Dispensers to strengthen and develop new local programming and connections with library and/or community partners. The webinar is free, but registration is required and space is limited.
